This journal is mostly going to serve as an archive of the works I've posted on ao3, with some of my longer meta posts and other fannish stuff thrown in. I write, draw (badly), vid (badly), cosplay and shitpost (constantly)
Fandoms: Star Wars, especially Legends/EU, Supernatural, Star Trek, especially DS9 and newly Voyager, Leverage, random others
i grew up in a geeky family. my dad has always been a trekker, and my mom got everyone hooked on the x files and firefly. for me, star wars has always been my cosmic background radiation. i was born right in between tpm and aotc, so prequelmania was in the air. padmé amidala was my first love. i was also a voracious reader as a kid. my school library had copies of pretty much all the young reader novels of the aughts, so I immersed myself in Junior Jedi Knights and Rebel Force and Jedi Apprentice and Jedi Quest. by this point, I was reading Wookieepedia for fun, and then I found them - my first Star Wars novels "for adults:" the Han Solo trilogy by A.C. Crispin. Ever since, I've been working on a collection of EU paperback novels, biasing toward the Bantams and standalones. I also had Return of the Jedi on a DVD that I constantly rewatched.
But I didn't get into fandom proper until I was old enough for a Tumblr account, and then an Ao3 account - I remember back when there were only around 5,000 fics total in the "Star Wars - All Media Types" tag. I saw TFA when it opened and liked it, especially stormpilot. I saw R1 and TLJ when they opened, too, and liked them less. I saw Solo on home video and still haven't seen TROS more than five years on... but Andor was good and The Acolyte had lots of hot ladies!
as a teen i wrote fic for early seasons of the flash, and read a ton, ton, ton of fic for the MCU. My fannish activity slowly petered off in college... until the pandemic hit, and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine became my lockdown show. There was something about being trapped in a dorm room that made me really connect with the loneliness of a space station where bad things were always happening to O'Brien.
Then November 5, 2020 hit, and I decided to watch as much Supernatural as possible before the finale aired. Mistake, because the ups and downs of the few years after that made a permanent impact on my psyche.
In the current day, I'm watching Star Trek in reruns - we get this dumb old man channel that plays one episode from each classic show every weeknight, in order. So I get to watch Janeway be unhinged in between ads for hair clippers and generic viagra for only $0.87 a pill...
I am, before anything else, a complainer. I am also a lurker. I am also a prolific idea-haver.
People who know me know that I am not a prolific idea-follow-through-er.
So my current strong opinion on fan culture is that Ao3 is not a social media space, and it should honestly probably be home to less not-fic and bulletfic and 600-word chapter ones that will never see an update. even though I have a lot of those.
ao3 is an archive. not everything is meant to be written in stone, indelible.
Write more. Complete more. get my wips in an actually readable state. give interesting ideas the time they deserve. and do stuff for femslash february.
I'm gonna be real, it hasn't really. it hasn't ruined my life, either. it's just a part of my life. but i am not the type of person to have a frequent commenter who becomes a beta reader who becomes best man at my wedding.
I recently rewatched the DS9 episode "Tacking into the Wind," and it's just such a good episode of television. all the pieces come together, you have kira as calm and competent and garak as the devil on her shoulder, you have relationship drama that is actually grounded in adult problems and not just another love triangle miscommunication plot, you have ezri speaking truth to power about how the cardassian empire fell, the klingon empire is falling and the federation is don't worry about it 😊, and it's just a really, really well-executed story. "yeah, damar, what kind of people give those orders?"
i'm shyyyyyyy. I want more rarepair femslash of star wars legends characters. i want people to consider the implications of mara jade's work for the empire. i want nails hair hips heels edits for characters with no canon appearance. i want comphet failing marriages. i want infidelity. i want femdom. i want playlists that are 100% 90s alt-rock women.
most importantly, i want someone to be my buddy at the next legends expo, because i was really shy at the last one and i wish i hadn't been
i can't think of anything good. so you're getting a j/p manifesto
yes, yes, all the threshold jokes. my ship has canonically fucked (as lizards) and had kids (as lizards.)
that's actually not what made me start shipping them. it was a few episodes later: "innocence." tuvok is LITERALLY BEING HUNTED FOR SPORT and they still take the time before rescuing him to be like "remember what happened 😏 last time 😏 we were in a shuttlecraft together?" TIME AND PLACE.
anyway. unethical power dynamics, intertwined family dynamics, at least one over-enthusiastic "yes MA'AM" per episode, what more could you ask for?
I made a maraleia manip to use as an icon here! for sometimes. considering using it other places as well.

I participated in my first big writing challenge! participated beyond signing up and then dying lost in the vacuum of space. For the Legends Point of View challenge I wrote >5,000 words, and only 3,000 them were the night before the due date! Read "Destroyer of Worlds" on my journal, on Ourchive or Ao3!
I am a huge fan of plotty longfic. even though i really really struggle to write it myself. im a huge slut for time travel, because its basically all plotty, and all the implied and incidents and accidents and hints and allegations. i'm also always on the hunt for failmarriages
the difficult kind of girl - sheryl crow. oughhh you can use this for johnmary, jc, pt, saffi, all of these are star trek examples, help,
chemical animal - the jesus and mary chain. more like the DEAN and mary chain. "i don't want to meet you/ you don't want to meet me too"
forgiven - alanis morissette. they just don't belt like this anymore
prison song - system of a down. mostly because of the meme but its also very danceable if you have something wrong with you
riches and wonders - the mountain goats. "i want to go home/ but i am home"
the people's joker! it's a great time if you are immersed in queer internet culture, but you won't find batfam fanon here
star trek: deep space nine. it's just the best one.
andor. season 2 is coming out in a couple of months! let's hope it's good!
the 1920 mark of zorro. has it aged well? not necessarily in every way. however, it is free to stream on wikipedia
Dr. Angela Collier - astrophysicist with a youtube channel, indispensable in spicing up my technobabble. also has very strong (and correct) star trek opinions
Princess Weekes - very insightful youtube creator who commentates pop culture through an intersectional feminist lens. she handles hard topics with the care they deserve, but never makes things boring or depressing
@aurekfonts - a source for everyone wanting to fuck with typefaces for the various alphabets of star wars
